It took less than one weekend for Columbus' newest Caribbean Caterer to go from being a a great party host to be trying to keep up with all the daily lunch orders that are pouring in. Jamaican born Leonie Robinson is finding out that her new business: Island Vibes Catering is making her busier than ever before and she loves every minute of it.

Leonie Takes orders the night before and delivers it to patron's place of work in time for lunch. Already she needs a few extra hands. She knows she has caught on to something big !

There is no doubt that next month (August) West Indians from all over the Caribbean and throughout the world will be glued to their T.V sets especially when the primere events of the olympics, the sprints are set to unfold.

Currently the Fastest man and women the 100m hail from the Caribbean. Jamaica's Usain Bolt and Campbell Brown for th women hold the world fastest times and are expected to medal. The world's second fastest man Asafa Powell will also be there on his second trip to the olympics and Jamaicas, especially will be watching if he and Usain Bolt can deliver a 1 , 2 punch at the finish.

The Bahamians are expected to be favorites as well in Beijing. 2004 Olympic Gold Medalist Tonique Williams-Darling and Medalist Pauline Davis-Thompson will be closely watched. Trinidadians Ato Boldon and Darrel Brown are also among the favorites. St Kitts Kim Cllins and Daniel Bailey of Antigua all have reasonable chances at medalling at this years olympics. 

While the Caribbean have produced  dominant athletes in Track and Field there are other sports as well . Bahamas Mark Knowles is a  professional tennis player currently ranked #7 in the world in the doubles competition. Andre Berto of Haiti is expected to have more than a fair showing in boxing at the Olympics.

There is no denying that an olympic power house Cuba will be more than a formidable force again this year. Cuba took home gold in the recent addition of Baseball, Bronze in Volley Ball, along with multiple gold and silver medals in Boxing.

NBC will have exclusive right this year and will have a lot of West Indians from the Caribbean on the edge of their seats. The curry goat, buss up sh'rt, mauby, guiness, red stripe, ginger beer will be flowing the night of the final sprints because undoubtedly there will be a person from the Caribbean in the race....

June 30th, 2006 Marked the official end of Caribbean American Heritage month. According to the best estimates there are well over 5 million people who would fall under the category of Caribbean American. These are people from the Caribbean or of Caribbean descent living permanently here in the United States as Citizens or residents . Caribbean American Heritage month began officially June 5th, 2006 upon presidential proclamation by current president George Bush.Congress woman Barbara Lee, originally entered the Bill which was passed by Congress in June 2005. The motivation behind establishing this bill was partially to counter an often skewed view of the people of Caribbean descent.

 From the very founding of the United States of America , people of Caribbean descent from all races and creeds have particpated  and succeeded  in all areas of american  life.

Dear Friends,

Today marks the first day of summer and witt that often comes a fresh outlook on life for many people. It also marks the beginning a busy summer of rededication for the Caribbean Association of Columbus. There has been no shortage or interest in and inquiry about the status of the Caribbean Association of Columbus.... especially online. It is certainly warranted because there has been an overwhelming amount of interest in establishing a caribbean organization here in the Columbus area for some time .

In fact similar and commendable endeavors has already been attempted and undertaken in the past. In  2002 a few visionary members of Columbus' small but proud, caribbean community established, The Columbus West Indian Association Inc., it was established for the purpose of "Produc[ing] resources necessary for the preservation of the West Inian Culture and to promote the welfare of the community [it] serves" . The response then was tremedous and initially was very well received by all accounts. The organization's status is currently inactive however but there is still an interest in  "coming together" that is constantly being discussed now. We think it is time to move forward.
